An Adventure

The new moon on the 3rd December at 00h23 (GMT) lifts us out of the intensity of Yods & eclipses and the floundering chaos of the recent past. There is a yearning for adventure. The traveller dusts off the passport, the pioneer unpacks the compass, the student buys more books and we all lift our binoculars to scan the horizon for a thrilling experience - emotional or physical.

Following the previous cycle of destruction & break-down are bursts of optimism and confidence - handy attributes for new beginnings and reconstruction. It would be wise to use the buoyancy of this moon cycle to take the initiative, make something happen or put an idea or ideal into practical action. It could be used to climb out of a trap or burst free from the confines of limiting mind-sets. Intuitive flashes are common and then we understand.

There is intolerance of corruption or any form of wrong doing or prejudice, especially where personal independence is blocked or the rights of others are not respected. Yet we ought to be mindful of outrage at unethical behaviour, well the sort that is expressed in a puffed up self-righteous kind of way. Instead of jabbing the judgemental finger, it is worth waiting for the flash of anger to simmer down, and then climb up on the wings of an eagle for a different view of the situation. There is always more to see.

The influence of this cycle inspires generosity of spirit and benevolence. The desire to explore, to see more, to know more, to be more is overwhelming at times and cannot be ignored. However, care must be taken not to over-extend and create imbalance.

It is a phase of expansion. This could take the form of inner growth where learning more about the workings of the inner world results in personal gain beyond our wildest dreams. It may encourage expanding personal horizons because bravely stepping out of a comfort zone to explore the big beyond could result in unexpected achievement and increased abundance.

This new moon offers a chance to rule out what we don’t want so as to know with certainty what we do want. We are reminded of challenging past incidents, not to brood over the difficulties, rather to convert the experiences into wisdom to better navigate the future.

Issues of trust arise in personal relationships. They mirror the amount of trust we have in ourselves and belief in our abilities. Issues of commitment also arise. On the one hand there is a need for the security that comes with commitment but reluctance and resentment of the constraints of obligation. The commitment could be to a person, a project, a life direction, a group or a dream.

The shadow taps on the shoulder and whispers, ‘Run, get the hell out of here, it’s going to be too painful. You don’t need this!’ The light counters with, ‘Imagine the possibilities, the rewards and the benefits. Go on, trust, you can do it!’

Who has the stronger voice - the shadow or the light? Perhaps the way into commitment and trust is not to run away as suggested by the shadow but to take heed of the warning. It may be foolish to listen only to the voice of the light and hurtle unprepared with blind trust into commitment. Perhaps it is wise to integrate the message from the shadow with the message from the light.

The new moon in Sagittarius is one of my personal favourites because it inspires hope.  It reminds me that no matter how tough it gets at times, there is always another perspective, a chance to learn or better understand and that life is an extraordinary adventure.

With love for the voyage,
Sharron.
